Last sunday I have been going to the Night of the Proms! It was a great afternoon we had. I went there with Natalie Bijl and we had a very pleasant day! There were again a lot of artist and off course Mr Karl was back again! We heard some great songs.. one of them the theme of Shindler's List (the sadest SONG ever.. by.. offcourse the great and genius John Williams!)
I heard the Romeo and Juliet theme of Prokovief.. The theme of Pirates of the Caribbean and another well-known theme songs.. We saw Macy Gray and she sung her greatest hit from a few years back.. We saw Kid Creole, Chic (famous band with some songs I knew!) there also was the famous 'night of the proms' choir, Fine Fleur who give out there best! A great surprise to see 'Soulsister' as well, a band from the 90's. I was surprised I even knew theire songs as well :P
We saw a Piano Virtuoos (don't know how it's in English tho..) but he could play the piano I assure you!! He even entered the Queen Elisabeth compitition as well.. so he's damn good.. We saw Robby Lakatosh, a very good violin player!
My overal conclusion of this day is thusfar.. there was a lot of classical music, more then last year.. so they did that right! (If it was my Night of the proms.. there wouldn't be ANY popmusic :P)
The visual effects were also a bit annoying.. (still special, but.. the 'special' wore off after 2 or 3 songs)
There wasn't a surprise act as wel.. that was a pity..
The artists were spectacular! But the fell out off tone between all the orchastra.. especially Kid Creole.. (he was good.. I liked him - he made me think of the Mask! with his special clothes and stuff..) But it seemed he didn't fitted into the theme of Night of the proms..
Like Macy Gray.. but the standerd of her microphone covered with diamonds was too much... :S (I know.. i'm jalous..) I really liked the 'duet' of Macy with Brown.. (nicely done!) though..
There wasn't a spectacular guest unfortunatly.. but hey, overall it was okay.. I think last year was a bit better though.. Who'd had thought I allready know of Soulsister.. there music was quite known too.. I sung with every one of them!
At a bit before 6 we took off at the trainstation. Last year we had to wait more then half an hour to get on a train, now we were one of the first ones! :D
The we finally get back home.. and we went for dinner in the Colmar.. (and what a nice restaurant that was!) WOW.. I really liked it, and it was good.. The perfect ending for a nice day :)
Thank You Natalie, and a Big Thank you for Natalie's Parents :)
Maybe next year...
xx Sara
