You know you're getting old when....

you sympathise more with the 'mother character' in a teen drama about teens in a teen story... 

DAMN YOU OLD-PEOPLE-NESS.. i'm quite the bored housewife I presume.. (insert bored emoji).. Yes.. i'm in the fase that's i'm longer on this earth as a grown up then when I was a kid. More-or-less more experienced? (insert throwing up-emoji)

So what's the deal.. 

I watched a kids teen drama from back in 2011.. called the 'ELVENHEUVEL'.. (pronounced Elf HILL) --> read - BINGEWATCHED THE ENTIRE THING IN ONE WEEK! (only about 39 episodes about 45 minutes long) It was always on my todo list (someday) and one day last week I just felt like it. 

Short synopsis: 

An elf - Crown prince Dagmar  is sent to the human world when creating too much havoc in the 'INBETWEEN world'.. (where Elfs (ELves?) original come from. He has to deal with humans in a fosterfamily, can not tell anyone who he is and can never fall in love with a human..While Dagmar tries to overcome his preconceptions towards humans, he soon learns his father sent him on a quest.

This telenovella aired between 2011 and 2013 and played on KETNET (a kids channel as part from EEN) It consisted of daily play (from monday to thursday) and having a compilation in the weekend. It has 3 seasons. (Back in the day I didn't follow often, but my mother (60 back then) watched with great love! I watched sometimes from afar, but not intentionally.

And.. i'm emberassed to admit it, but it sometimes made me feel old.. Even AFTER sympathising with the 'mother' of the gang. After some research.. that's what you get by watching cringy footage of elfs offcourse...  I found out, all of the characters that played teens, where (thank god) allready in their tweens :O..  you could spot a tiny wrinkle sometimes :P... 

Filming locations where on set and in HOEILAART..  this is the house where outdoor filming took place 

So.. here is a list of characters from back then.. some disappeared from tv after that.. or quited (maybe even forced? out of the acting world)

Best known is Niels Destadsbader, (who plays the lead) and still quite active in the tv business.. (as of today, a very succesful tv - face.. singing - dancing - acting - presenting.. a little do - it - all.. (I often think of him of the replacement of KOEN WOUTERS from back in the day he dominated the tv... but hey, a new (and young) star is born. But still.. quite down to earth fellow - i think.. (West - Vlaming eh)

Then we have Kalina Malehounova.. who is now a teacher in an elementary school.. (Antwerp) I didn't quite like the way she acted when on W817..  but on the Elfenheuvel it has improved. 

Seppe Cosyns works in Gent as 'official'..

Christel Domen works as a stewardess on the Thalys.

Frans van der Aa is just a national treasure.. playing Zwartepiet in Dag Sinterklaas (original from the 90's)

Marc van Eeghem recently died of cancer (in 2017)..

Most of the actors are still in the field somewhere with an occasional appearance here and there.. but nevertheless.. most actors cannot live financially on tv or movie work (here in Belgium)

THE BIG STAR of this show is without a doubt.. WOBBEL.

Wobbel is het huisdier van de elfen uit De Elfenheuvel .

Wobilis Imperiangoris is de officiële naam van 'Wobbel'.
In de serie is het een 'huisdier' van elfen in de tussenwereld -die ze meekrijgen vanaf hun geboorte om onder andere sociale vaardigheden mee te oefenen - waaronder het hoofdpersonage Dagmar Koningswens (vertolkt door Niels Destadsbader) .Wobbel communiceert met licht en geluid . Volgens Ketnet worden Wobbels gemiddeld 1000 jaar oud , en zijn het notoire snurkers en veelslapers , doch zeer slimme wezens. Deze officiële benaming wordt één maal in de reeks vermeld , namelijk in compilatie 21 van de eerste reeks . Om deze figuur te vertolken werd een interactieve 'bal' gebruikt , bestuurbaar met een Ipad . Het geluid werd ingesproken met een voice-over .

A soft mushy ball like creature who bleeps like R2D2 and glows every kind of color.. who can make the cutest sounds.. snoring, acting angry, talking his owner his head of.. just cute. providing advice or just for chatting . would like one of this! I loved the part where Dagmar talks about how he is linked to his Wobble with their heart.. (loved he creativity and originality behind it)

I would loooooove seeing a movie with this one in a lead role!!! =D Ketnet better be making a spinoff sometime =) they are missing some goooood cash!

Overall this series gets a good grade.. about 8/10! Children from the age of 10 (or older) will like it.. 

The series where on DVD.. and even my mother loved it soo much, she even put her two cents on facebook about it!

Great find just yesterday! After so many years!!!

Yaaas.. that crazy taste in television shows would be in common with me, her daughter... (and yes sometime ago we even watched neighbours together, but that's for another time.. Actually i'm looking on the internet for ANY bloopers.. but there are just NONE. why? I'm looking for the dvd.. 

And what are the real names of BLING BLING and Zanzibar? What? 

Still .. is it weird to be sympathizing for the mother figure?? Why? It is normal? Is this *ahem* what maturing really is?? must be? right? (goed to bed, i'l be a better parent tomorrow)

And now for the reaaaally interesting part of this conclusion.. why is it.. that I have 2 names from that show to have in my class this year? Coincidence ?? I'm talking about Maud and Rinus (characters).. maybe both parents watched Elfenheuvel as well =)
