Dear blog...
A long, long time agoI can still remember how that (insert cool thing - suggest - music - memory or whatefs)Used to make me smile...We go back to the magic year of 1993 - the 26th of February.. I was a wee lass of 8 years and I went to see my first ... Disney on ice!! :D
the first of many...
I went with Aunt Mietje.. (an old friend of my dads)
I do not remember a lot of this event itself except for a couple of pictures that are excisting, but a couple of days (months maybe?) our public tv station decided to broadcast the whole show AND I taped the whole thing! =) And I remember most of that recording!
I still have the recording on a VHS tape and i haven't found it (as of today) this show of 1993.. :) Maybe I will post a little footage of me filming a scene from this..
The best thing I still remember were the 'good looks' of Peter Pan himself.. and of course the flying was so spectacular..
The next year I went to see 'Beauty and the Beast on ice' also with her.. and then a gazillion years later I went with Elien and Natalie to see 'disney on ice - princess edition' (somewhere between 2010 and 2013)... Love it love it!!
These were the badges for entering .. VIP style!
I remember I got a poster that hung a long time in my room.. Still to this day, I love the story of Peter Pan.
The booklet..
Inside the booklet..
Inside of the booklet..
So.. Where are they now?
In true 'catfish'style I went on a search (or investigation - more or less more CSI STYLE) for these figure skaters and wondered if they are still skating somewhere over the rainbow..
Let's start of with 'Peter - JAIMEE EGGLETON - Pan'. This goodlooking fella.. at that time he resembled quite my dad.. maybe it's true what they say about men, you find somewhat something that eventually resembles y'er dad.. glad the looks worked out! (and not the personality)
But not much info unfortunately:
- he's from 1964 - being about 29 when he played peter pan in 1993.. (being 57 nowadays) But research show this particular show started in 1990.
- I found a couple of YT vids from the 1980's.. (who even posts this stuff on YT?)
- he's canadian.
- Won a couple of medailles between 1984 and 1986.
- found a couple of articles on google - (from that time and era! What a surprise)
but nothing really much about where abouts - nowadays...
there are just to many spellings about this name.. even the Olympic page suggest it's jaimie.. ahwell..
he disappeared from the face of the earth .. OR he's just that will hidden far away from social media! WELL DONE.
Next one.. DAWN Porter (who played Wendy Darling)
- There are a lot of Dawn Porters in the world.. but I think I might have found the one.
- I found a recent place of work :) And I will leave it to that.. :)
She manages a trampoline park ://rockinjump.com/palmdale/
How cool is that!!
Why hasn't this flown over to Europe allready!?
Next one on the line..
DAVID BROWNE (Captain hook)
- fact.. There are a plenty of David Browne's in this world :)
what unfortunate news.. :s
- he stayed quite long under the wings of Disney on ice.. first as a performer - then as a manager..
- May he rest in peace..
Next on
Christopher Shrimpling
- I found a facebookpage and a small article about him:
The upbeat 40-year-old worked for Disney for 14 years, touring the world as a figure skater.
“I’m originally from Middlesborough,” said Chris, “but I love living in Scotland and this weather is great.
“With extreme conditions, you might as well enjoy the ride and make the most of what you have. I’ve worked in temperatures below -40ºC so this is mild. The cafe and factory have been open throughout the cold spell and I just thought I would bring my skates into work with me.”
Chris had not skated since 2001, when he finally hung up his boots at Disney, but after closing the cafe one evening – and much to the surprise of Stuart Crystal staff, dog walkers and passing motorists – he once more took to the ice for an impromptu performance in the Muthill Road car park. He is more used to performing in front of 10,000-strong audiences but his mini-exhibition earned him a perfect 10 from factory staff who had gathered at the tea room window to watch him spinning, jumping and twirling on the ice. And finding he had not lost any of his old skills – although he says he probably won’t be performing triples any more – Chris decided to make his way to Lake of Menteith on Sunday."
Interesting fact:
The producer of this show: Kenneth Feld.. has a very nice website with lots of productions his company ever produced! Still now - to this day :)
