Hello, sweet blog! :)
I'm back with some more things that has happend in my life! :)
First of all, Mic and I went camping in Belgium,.. We went to numerous places and have seen a lot of things. some of the campings were really good and nice.
Sunday the second of August.. (the day before we even did a garagesale)
We finally got to go on our trip with our new car... The day began with a huge rainfall!! We went to Antwerp, the capital of the province Antwerp :) It's a huge city with lots of shops that can only be found in big cities.. We even found the big mother of 'Kruidvat'.. (enormous store!) We strolled around at the big shoppingstreets, but unfortunatly it was pouring a bit.. and we didn't stay for too long, also because most of the shops were closed and there was a lot of commotion going on, apperantly there was runningmatch going on called the Iron Man.. We did waved at the multiple helicopters flying by.. (anyone spotted us? :P) Info 'bout: (http://www.antwerpen.be/)
After Antwerp we went further to Kalmthout, http://www.kalmthout.be/fb111spae1017tkqb1tkqb187.aspx)
(a place where I needed to go because of the 'Klasse compition I entered..' (this compitions includes going to several museums and get a stamp of every one of them (5) and 3 museums of differnt provinces were needed..)
So Mic and I went to the 'bee - museum' (http://www.bijenteeltmuseum.be/) and then also to the Arboretum (http://www.provant.be/vrije_tijd/domeinen/arboretum_kalmthout/) (the arboretum was a huge garden with lots of trees, plants and butterflies!) The weather was just great the next day!
We stayed that night for the very first time in a real tent! Well.. it was my first time.. and I had to say, I was a bit cold in the morning, but I slept very good!
We placed our tent at a nearby camping (http://www.dewildertserust.be/) at Essen.
Good things about the camping:
- nice place to put our tent.
- very calm and peacefull
- not expensive -> the cheapiest one of all our campings!
- A place close to the sanitary block.
Bad things about the camping:
- bugs flying in and out the shower :p
- a very cool bathroom.. (that happens when the door stays open!)
The one thing we didn't go to, (shame us!) was the 'Kalmthoutse Heide'.. A big forestlike park.. oh well.. another time!
After we cleared everything up.. (one nite only!) we headed firstly to the Arboretum and then to Turnhout (http://www.turnhout.be/ ) and strolled around abit.. I thought Turnhout was going to be a bit more interesting, but it wasn't so we didn't stay for too long.. and drove to our next camping.. it was almost 7 PM so.. we did drive in circles to find our next camping where we stayed for 2 days.. This camping was located at Opoeteren.
Good things about:
- nice place - lots to see/to do - even very childfriendly! (kindergarten - playfield..)
- you can buy nice food at the diner.
- VERY nice sanitary (A++)
- Water supplies: through a magnetkindofthing we could use water from our money. We got thing thing with 25 euro's on it, but had to pay 50 euro's in total (incl. guarantee) pfff.. the thing was the euro's we had left on our magnetkindofthing we got back. (in total we spend about 5 euro's for use of water - mostly shower/washing hands)
Bad things about:
- the most expensive one!
- we had to get another magnetkindofthing to use the portal to get in and out with our car! (and had to pay also another guarantee for that too!)
- I think it was about 40 euro's..
- It was a bit complicated.. :O
- The people were very loud...
After we set up the tent we went to Maaseik and walked around.. (http://www.maaseik.be/)
The next day we left our tent (empty) and went to Genk, to Bokrijk (http://www1.limburg.be/bokrijk/index.html) This huge outdoor museum about life '100 years ago' was very good! We enjoyed ourselves bigtime! This museum had it all.. reallife actors acting different scenes - animals - old buildings - nice views - 'old' things to eat and to buy - 'old' proffesions - 'old' games to play and so on.. It was beautifull and interesting!
Afterwards we went to Hasselt and ate something there :) (http://www.hasselt.be/) Unfortunatly every shop/museum/park was nearly closed at the time - so we didn't do alot.. Only to shop at a comic book store not far from the center :P.. (At mics ask off course) and I brought a couple of Suske and Wiske with me.
That next day we traveled some more, cos our last stop was at Marche en Famenne. We did a couple of stops :)
- First of all : Tongeren. (http://www.tongeren.be/main.html) We saw a lot of things over there and I visited a museum there: 'Gallo - Romeins museum'. And stayed there quite long.. It was a really big museum and quite interesting too.
- Then we went to Francorchamps (yes the Racecircuit too) and watched a couple of motorcycles driving at insanly high speed, it just hurted my ears (and head too) But Mic didn't notice the loud noise whatsoever.. he was more into drooling over all those shiny, nice, fast bikes..
- Then we went to Coo/Stavelot. and saw the secondbiggest waterfall of Belgium. (it was about 15 metres high) Plopsa Coo is also at the waterfall, but we didn't go there nono.. :P The water was cool and fresh! The stones did hurt.
- The next stop had to be Durbuy - but we traveled instead to our Camping at Marche (because we had lost too much time)
Our next camping was 'Euro camping Paola' (http://www.campingpaola.be/) where we stayed for 2 nites.
Good things:
- Nice - big camping.
- Not that expensive
- Good sanitary
Bad things:
- we were located at a playground for children and they made lots of noise!
- the second day the sun was really shining very hard and we didn't had any shade.. (except from our car)
The following day we went to Han - Sur - Lesse.. to the Grottes of Han. (http://www.grotte-de-han.be/)
The time we spent there was very good and interesting. The grottes/caves we entered were so nice and big. We saw a lot of things even a lightshow and a room filled with Enya's music.. quite empressive to wander about, in a hall so far from the above ground..
We did everything, the grottes, the wildpark, the speleogame and so on!
After that we drove around Marche en famenne.. A nice city and went to bed quite early.. (aaargh.. children!)
The next day we went to Dinant, a very beautiful city (http://www.dinant.be/) and spend a whole day exploring the city. It's citadel, it's cave, a boattrip on the Maas, and so on.. what a nice city!
Then we headed for our last camping of our holiday.. it was a camping at Durnal that was called 'Le pommier Rustique'. (http://www.camping-durnal.net/)
The next day Valentijn came over and we went kayaking on the Lesse.. (12 km!) It was about 3 to 4 hours we spent on the water.. my arms still hurts! The bad thing that happend was the loss of Valentijns photocamera.. :S a big pity.
We said goodbye to Valentijn at the Dinant station and spend our last nite in the tent and our camping:
Good things:
- Privacy: with bushes on both sides.
- a nice view.
- Big camping - Dutch speaking manager!
- Not very expensive.
Bad things:
- We were on the side close to a street, it wasn't a busy one.. But mostly busses and trucks passed along with lots of noise off course.
- the manager forgot my face and asked me again if I had payed.. at the looks of Michael he did remember.. (Do I like sooo common??)
Aargh... the next day.. the final day... the day we *had* to go home... (sh*t)
I had a very good trip! I loved it, and Micheal enjoyed it too.
Our final stop, before we headed home was 'Eigenbrakel/ Waterloo (http://www.waterloo.be/)
Home of the famous lion and the battle vs the French with Napoleon and so on...
To our surprise there was something like a themepark (http://www.waterloo1815.be/en/waterloo/ ) we did the whole thing!
- The steps to the lion (about 400)
- The movie/information
- The bus
- The museum
- The shop
and so on...
It was nice and I learned a lot!
Wow!
This holiday couldn't be any better.. But with the help of our car (and Michael!) we did a lot of things! Thank you sweetie to come along!
Soo this was it.. then we were home.. it was a bit dissappointed to be back.. but a bit happy. :) Soo we are officially Happy campers!!
Maybe next year again :)
Love..
xxSara
