Dear blog..
Last friday I was in Gentbrugge, a city that lays next to Gent :).. My uncle invited me and Mic to go at the reception of the 'Dekenij'.. (a group of people who plans lots of things and activities for the people of Gentbrugge :))
The reception took place at the 'Vierdezaal'.. Where we always see Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet.. (Saint Nicolas and Black Pete) But this time, the lovely entertainment for a whole lot of people was les folles de Gand.. A ladies group from Gent, special, spectacular.. lots of music, dance, nice clothes.. but the best things was the group ladies, where actually men! Yes! It was a show with 4 transvestites (well actually 3 men and one woman :D) I really didn't know what to expect! It's my first time and quite frankly I was shocked.. but also entertained! It was good, I liked it in the end.. The women were beautifull dressed, sometimes very spectacular! And off course... with a lot of bling bling, boa's.., feathers, pailletes, ruches.. just everything! The people loved it too, with lots of laughter and a wee bit of sexism :P.. but not too much! Just enough.. I'm glad we weren't sitting in the front.. cos a lot of men where choosen to sit on, our to participate on the stage! Much fun! Next year they are coming back to the Vierdezaal.. I think I will be going again! They also celebrate 15 years already.. so on the next 'Gentse Feesten'.. they will have a celebration show!

Dear Blog..
Next week it's the annual Eurovision Song contest! And yes.. I've been waiting for this since last year.. So, I'm really really really exciting to see this week filled with music.. andwaiting for the climax on next saturday (May 17) with the finals.. I can allready picturing myself, pen and paper by the hand.. Giving each and every contester the points going from 1 to 8, and then off course 10 or 12..
And off course the people in my environement are giving kindly (but somewhatt forced :P) their opinions (and scores) too :D Yay.. me
This years it's even on a special location! Not home as usual.. but in a small appartement at the North Sea.. and in the companion of my mother and brother.. So yes.. they are participating in scoring aswell :D
Note to say: It's this year held in Sweden.. (last years winner was Loreen with Euphoria) Although there were better songs on that years ESC.. But what the hey.. I actually promised myself once, I have to go to one ESC someday .. only if it's held close to home.. (With all those balkan countries far from here, and the fact they are always winning.. I was glad to see this year it's Sweden.. But unfortunatly my better half (also my conscience) explained me that works on the house and going on a wee trip in the middle of workweek isn't that okay.. :S
Also I don't want to raise eyebrows with this statement.. but Sweden still is just a little more 'Europe'.. to me :).. I mean by that.. it's what i've been thought all those many and long elementary school years..!
But with recent upcomig countries, it's nice to widen my horizons too.
But with a quick thought on this next EurovisionContest.. It's a real no-brainer this time.. My loving (not really).. country of Belgium has send them this song..(see below) I think it's even worser then last year.. aiaiaiai.. Nope.. that isn't true.. I guess they are on a same level of big No-I-Don't-Think-We're-Going-Through-The Semifinals-Again. So yeah.. It's looking quite bad?? Who can say..
Pfftt.. put some effort in it please! But I have to note here again.. it's not the Flanders people who has chosen this guy.. it's our Wallon friends :) from our french part of Belgium.. and they have (sometimes) made some pretty good choices the last few years.. I have to bring back the memories of 'Urban Trad' with Sanomi.. that was at number 2 that year! (2003) Never been higher since then.. (althoug Tom Dice went very far with his guitar too in - what was it- 2008?)
But i'm drifting away.. what I really wanted to say (like my post says) is just a thought.. Why can't Belgium send just someone to play an extraordinary instrument, with little to just a few lyrics?? I got the idea listening to Hevia's Busindre Reel.. It's just that beat, the instruments, a few vocals thats on order here.. It's calming, it's empowering, it puts an impression on you.. Just a thougt here.. why oh why does it always have to be some singer, that sings about love and stuff.. (maybe that's because some stupid article once said that there's more possibilty to win the eurovisionsongcontest when there is the word 'Love' in it.. Really.. just rubbish.)
I'm really getting negative here.. But i'm thinking Belgium will have no chance going to the Finals of The EurovisionSongContest of this years 2013.. just a shame really.. I really really really hope he does though.. but then the other have to have absolute crappy songs.. I have to say.. I'm about 80 to 90 procent right of countries that are going to be chosen for the finals.. (with my scoring and all :P)
Allthough I spread about 70 procent of negativity in this blogpost.. I'm really really looking forward to next week, also the comments from our Belgiums favorite -ESC -Know - it All André Vermeulen is also something worth while listening too.. :) He just knows everything, and if I grow up (some time soon now) I want to be just like him :D
Next week will be over just like that.. and then it's another 360 and something days to wait for!
