Hi Blog!
It's the first edition of ... NOSTALGIA NIGHT! @ Lokeren city!
This includes.. quality time with little brother S..
cocktails, cocktails, cocktails.. (who knew S turned out to be quite the cocktailmaker!!! I enjoyed them absolutely!
cats - cats - cats... even with my allergies.. i did quite good..
and lots of nostalgia - about old shows - cartoons - pictures - funny stories - old cd's..
We did an 'almost-allnighter'.... but had to go to sleep at 4, because of going back home at 6!
It was an absolute blast! Time flew by!
What passed the show? Quite a few! here's the list..
Spellbinder, Xena, Asterix and Obelix (even finishing the movie!) Suske en Wiske The musical, ...
Small intro: Beast wars, Ovide en zijn vriendjes.. (intro still stuck in my head!) Marsipulami, Stella Stellaris, Round the twist, Weird science, wicked science, (all quite aussie!.. Where the hell comes this love for Australia? Nearly all kids shows were imported from down under THATS WHY - such as.. written up here.. Skippy the bush Kangaroo and also mission top secret.
dutch cartoons like - sing a long songs - Eurodisney edition.. - the rescuers, darkwing duck, gummy bears, ducktales, talespin, power rangers, turtles, the island of Noach, Seabert, captain planet, rainbow brite, dragon ball Z, Beestenbos is boos, de droomshow (from the netherlands) digimon, pokemon, dinosaurs the tv show! rugrats and hey arnold, alfred kwak, ren and stimpy, the pinky and the brain, Kuzco with the talents of Kronk and Yzma, Dommel, Boes and Popeye and son, sailer moon and the care bears, der kleine vampire, the secret world of alex mack, the intro of flikken, Postbus x, woof, escape to witch mountain,...
With honorably mention of 2 video's I totally forgot! But actually S remembered them vividly.. and after a small research we found everything about it! This show was named Beetleborgs...
And the second being Weird science (the tv show I stumbled on when looking for the wicked science (aussie kids show) quite the coincidence..
Not only kids tv shows.. Even some old videogames.. AND playing some new ones! =)
after some research we even find some olden goldies! from somewhere between 1992 and 1995, when we briefly owned a freaking ATTARI!!! messed up really!! I remembered something about a superman game and a phonebooth, soon after we found this game:
Then moving on to the old old computer we once had that needed floppy disks.. yes.. they were called that way! We found these bangers!! All games from the 80's, that we played on an anciant computer. Like pipe mania...
I eventually remembered also having a flight simulater too.. Where I always crashed after lift off.. very depressing game.
it truly was a trip to memory lane.. who knew owning a Switch could be so entertaining? Hate the playstation with its poor games.. love the switch! We played the multi player of Mario Wonderland.. What a game! Loved playing it, loved the tiny details and the smooth animation.. well well.. we came a loooooooon way from Pong to this.. well done people, well done .. now go solve wars, climate change, ilness and famine please.
The best thing about this night? bonding with lil bro.. =) Thanks S!!!

About:
All with them old logos on from back in the day:
Well heck, who is this guy? You ask?
Well.. its quite frankly *just* one heck of a music composer for movies.. such as FREE WILLY!
In all my years on this planet and devotion to people like John Williams, Ennio Morricone, Van Gelis and so on.. I simply forgot this mister.. the composer of the soundtrack from Free willy.
When recently going to a play/musical piece with the kids in Bijloke Gent (called Moby Dick - played with various actors and the philharmonic orchestra) they did a little skit from Free willy too.. (what a nice little surprise)
Just a little bit tearyeyed because of the feelings and the memories from this beloved movie.. (1993) and not to forget the first HUGE crush I had on THE boy... (yes Jason James Richter) I just adored you as a wee 9 year old and fancied you quite a bit.. but nevertheless.. you were too old for me in that time.. (almost 13 right?)
When heard the iconic tunes from the movie, I wondered how many of the audience would have guessed it from this movie.. ! Back home, I googled it (again for the billionth time) and finally learned the truth about the composer of free willy. And i'm so much ashamed by it, not knowing earlier who it was.
Here is some back ground story for Basil Poledouris.. cos afterall - the score on free willy is quite unique, haunting, stunning and fantastic at the same time.. Gracious, exciting, adventurous,.. it reminds me of 80's tunes and off course killerwhales in general. He died almost 20 years ago.. but today he's remembered in his plays, pieces, movies and for now on this little blog. He is not forgotten.
Basil Konstantine Poledouris (/ˌpɒlɪˈdɔːrɪs/; August 21, 1945 – November 8, 2006) was an American composer, conductor, and orchestrator of film and television scores,[1] best known for his long-running collaborations with directors John Milius and Paul Verhoeven. Among his works are scores for the films Conan the Barbarian (1982), Red Dawn (1984), Iron Eagle (1986), RoboCop (1987), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Free Willy (1993), Starship Troopers (1997) and Les Misérables (1998).
Poledouris won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie, or Special for his work on the four-part miniseries Lonesome Dove in 1989, and was a four-time recipient of the BMI Film Music Award.
So.. quite the impressive list huh?! Thank you for the music mr Poledouris.
