Do you have a moment to talk about.. ‘crazy ex girlfriend?

Wel.. here we go!

I got to know this show about a year ago.. it was broadcasted on one of the channels here in Belgium, but after my hubby deleted all my episodes (With an italian accent please: what-a-mistaka-to-maka! ) by mistake off course, i never really forgot about it, till now.. april/mai 2020.. lockdown at my place, because of some nasty little bug.. I FOUND the show again on NETFLIX ! (halleluah ! Or what do you say in Jewish ? Shalom ?) and off course.. ALL  4 SEASONS ! Yay !

Littlebit about it : The shows revolves around Rebecca Bunch (played by Rachel Bloom).. a Jewish attorny in the big city.. A big name, brilliant attorny, (not so brilliant emotional) but as it turns out, an unhappy little girl.. When she meets her long lost love from ‘the old days at camp’ she just takes a descision on the spot to follow this guy anywhere.. even if it’s at the end of the world.. but its West Covina: The episodes are about her and her new place, work, new (but sometimes strange coworkers) and this little obsession of Josh Chan.. Mixed with a little bit of humor, romantic drama, thriller (Look out for TRENT.. THIS GUY –Paul Welsh-  is da bomb), a lot of action, (sometimes at the end of the bottom) an underlying message, screwing around with a lot of men..(wowzers! You go girl!) while having underlying issues.. but still adorably cute!  See for yourself! It’s a cool show!

Little bit of my 2 cents :

I have to say.. I really really really love this .. i have a profound admiration for the shows creator mrs Rachel Bloom, just two years younger then me, but what did she accomplish allready, wowzers.. i’m a wee bit jealous really. I just want to say, well done, and give her a good pat on the back. I just love the music she wrote for this show.. really, really, really.. I applaud to you. The show itself is quite entertaining, good set of actors, good characters, good background of the characters. Great interaction between actors. The music fits really well in the scene’s, storyline and, whatsoever. You can always relate to one of the characters.. and I have to say, sometimes I relate to Rebecca, but you can easily relate to the others too.. (for me the exceptions of the hot guys off course, i cannot relate to hem :P) And thats one clue of me liking that song pretty much..

You know.. Belgium needs to have this series on his own… also like a telenovella (like sara or ella, or louis/louise) but this little bit darker themed show.. could be allright.. but you’d have to attract to a special kind of audience i guess..  I must say, sometimes it was hard to watch some of the episodes,.. Sometimes quite dark and always with a very huge emotional rollercoasterride in it.. in many of the episodes. You felt the bottom she had reached at some point and the long way back up, but what they did was really beautiful, with at pinch of Jew thrown in..  (how on earth can we do this here in Belgium?! I am not sure about the Jewish Population in Belgium, but my guess is the Muslim population is far more bigger then any other population in Belgium! And I’m just a ‘humble’ Cath..

Ah well.. i don’t think we could ever match this high level of musical music when it is translated into Dutch/Flemish.. What about a little try.. ‘Fit hot guys have problems too’.. could be… ‘knappe  venten hebben ook problemen’.. (clue number too)  nooo.. that doesn’t sound too good.. bah. Pff.. too hard. We need… Rachel Bloom to fix this mess up :P

And you know what.. such a pity season 1 and 2 greg did not come back for the other seasons.. they had him replaced with an other greg, which had great shoes to fill, (did an okay job in the end J) This show had it’s many many many handsome men.. really.. It must be crime to be this handsome mr . Nathaniel (also goed by the name of Scott Michael Foster) and of course.. mr Santa Ana Winds.. sigh..

 And anyone of them.. such GREAT SINGERS!! There are still some gems to be uncovered in Hollywood! (I speak of the beautifull Donna-Lynn Champlin) Well done.. great acting too Mrs Champlin!

There was also room for quite some famous singers/actors as well.. such as Lea Salonga (loooved it) Josh Groban and Hairspray actress Brittany Snow..

The message in this show is one for everyone… pursue your own dreams rather than others.. i’m sometimes in the same boat with this one.. I chose my career, because of my mother, I’m still in my career because of my mother (and now my husband and children too) but if I could choose it again, maybe, it would be something different J.. thank god I do like my job, but maybe not as much as i would like something else, you know what I mean? Ah; well.. i’m stuck on this ride for another looooooong time.  Another message: Be happy, try to find happiness, within you, and with yourself, with others, with friends/collegues… do not get blindsided by traditions/or the ‘norm’.. in the end it’s mostly about YOU J, you are just stuck with you J nourish yourself. Take care of yourself.

*Did you know Rachel Bloom is also YT? (check her youtube channel out! Look out for the mermaid song :P Love it) She is a great singer J

*Did you know the series got some Emmy’s.. (yes, it’s that good!) and a few golden Globes.. Wowzers..

*The last episode of the series was a huge show with all the actors performing most of the songs LIVE in a good ol concert! COOL to see J  LOVE IT. But what’s with that audience? :P All colourfull persona’s! Cool, I would not match that audience, being such a dull, boring nerd as I am :P…

*Well cast, well cast.. Paul Welsh as TRENT.. the male character of Rebecca Bunch, you could say.. He is just so well Cast.. KUDOS. Just kudos.. I could not think of anyone else portraying Trent.. Where did you find such a gem ? Well played. What a briljant act to also give Trent the song of : ‘Im just a boy in love’.. a bold move, but yet, genial ! 

*And now.. My favorite, favorite songs of this show.. many, many many ones.. Those lyrics on some of them.. genius, just genius really. You know, sometimes it’s just that simple, a little ryme a little less is always more. And that makes it so darn good.

-          And well done for giving Trent his moment to shine too in this genre music.. I died almost !

-          Mostly all the songs with mr pete gardner who plays Darryl Whitefeather!

-         The songs with Donna-Lynn Champlin singing.. just.. beautiful.

And many, many, many more.

I cannot wait to see what’s next for Miss Bloom!? J  It will definitly be interesting to see.

Just a last note here..  one of the co-composers/music writers on the music  for this show: ‘Adam Schlesinger’.. has passed away because of complications due to the Covid 19 virus... A little of my condoleances for his family too..  Terrible news..
