On a roadtrip to the past AGAIN! Yes it's a hobby..
Dear blog...
YAAAAS...
Having kind of a MARIE KONDO moment here.. :) I'm cleaning the attic.. and it def.. feels good!
That means,.. getting rid of my past as well.. and all the VCR-cassetes lying around.. everything is nowadays found on the internet (OR disney+) so I can throw them ALL away... they take a shitload of place in.. so in with the bin!
But not before I list all of the content on those cassetes onto my precious blog!!
Some kind of listing of past interest! (and of my mother too off course)
In the next few days/post.. i'll be posting content of all my CASSETES that stayed with me.. bear with me hé.. did you know..
--> one day in the early 2000 i took it upon me creating every tag to every cassette, meaning i would watch all of them the whole day through and writing all of the content on the tags.. yes.. i was that obsessed. (and actually ill that day, i stayed home from school.. yes i was really ill..
I actually even numbered them as well.. As in the past I would love to play some kind of VCR renting business like 'videopalace' that used to exist in Deinze.. where you could find EVERY MOVIE :=) those were the days :) and playing the same to my friends who would come in and loan (rent hé!) a movie of mine :D
first one up! CASETTE number 5
So..
This cassette starts with a golden oldie.. one of my (also my mothers) favorite song..
'Somethings gotten hold of my heart'... a cover from gene pitney
but this cover version contains the lovely: Marc Almond:
This song came out in 1988!! (but exist even longer.. from the 1960's)
then it said: BASSIE en Adriaan:
This dutch duo (clown and circus acrobat) entertained a whole generation of kids from the 1980's to the early 90's.. .. they were much fun and went on many many adventures.. to this day I still love them.. and even uses their signature endsong in my class (at the end of the day..)
"dag vriendjes,.. dag vriendinnetjes.. dit was het dan alweer! Dag vriendjes, dag vriendinnetjes.. tot de volgende keer maar weer!"
This was the episode on the cassette: BASSIE SCHIET EEN BOK.
this particular episode was released on 28 november 1986! (when I was just 1 year and 2 monts old!)
but the humor never gets old! As I saw my son (born in 2015) laughing hard with it too!
I'm pleased to see the brothers are still alive, born in 1942 and 1935, makes them now: 89 and 82! damn.. that's old! (the day of that episode they were already in their 'late' 40's!)
and who could forget that iconic car with the headlights that could be closed AND the giant eye lashes they had glued on.. so cool too!
Next..
off course.. many of my VHS cassettes have A LOT of micky Mouse shorts or Donald Duck or Goofy shorts.. (yes.. I COLLECTED them éééévery time.. that was LONG before DVD entered my life.. )
these were the cartoons present on this cassette:
"All in a nutshell" - cartoon Donald Duck: release date: 2 september 1949.. (75 years old!)
"Mickey down Under": Micky mouse and Pluto: 19 maart 1948!
"The Big wash".. cartoon by Goofy! (1948) with the iconic: 'imma gonna wash Dolores!'.. loved it!
Mr Mouse takes a trip: release date: 1 november 2040!
WITH honorable mention of this piece of gem lurking around Youtube..
the side by side voice recordings of ALL the original voices with MR DISNEY HIMSELF!!!!
Ah.. the wonderful world of voice acting.. Once I wanted to do the same.. turns out i have a boring voice! LOL
THE LAST PIECE of content: BLACKBEARDS Ghost: (8 feb 1968)
This last piece includes a movie.. also by Disney.. (and I actually watched it again last night.. in much higher resolution than the VHS can EVER provide.. namely.. i found this movie on DISNEY+! YAY!!
and the wellknown Dean Jones.. who played in a lot of disney flms!
(the million dollar duck, the horse in the grey flanel suit.. and many more)
Lovable pirate with cool australian accent 'mate', good acting from Dean Jones's part as the annoyed gym teacher/coach.. saw a lot of strings.. but hey, CGI wasn't even conceived yet at that time and day...(!) but quite good movie.. a lot of the actors/Actresses have died allready.. BUT the images lives on forever.. well done. The difference seeing this movie when I was young and now is really big. You see a lot of details for the first time and you get the underlying stories so much more then when you're a 'tween'...
And when this movie was released in 1968, my mother was only 16 years old! WHaaaaat????
As you can see allready.. Disney really owned the big screen! :P.. their dominating the (movie)world! still do obviously..
Ohyes..
after the movie of blackbeard.. there was a piece left with a bit of time, of that other movie 'pete's dragon.. also a beautiful gem out of the disney vault.. and it fueled my passion for dragons too :D
=D
THATS IT FOR NOW FOLKS!! =) Stay 'tuned' for more!
