When watching 5 films on a row (from wednesday till sunday) I noticed that the true and various captain must be captain Barbossa. He carries the whole movie franchise on his performance!
He quite litterally stole every scene in every movie. He played in all 5 of them and his character evolves with every movie, as there is for Jack Sparrow, he still remains the goof from the first minute till the last, depending every move he makes counting on sheer luck. But also brilliantly delivers as we are used to.
The actor/character gives it al hes got. He also gets to say the best lines and best quotes. He deliverd it all.. being the twofaced person as he is, he plays a pirate quite good. Cunning, traiterous, adventourous, villainous, humble, honorable, backstabbing, smart, quite comedic timing, flattering and many more.
Captain Barbossa is played by Geoffrey rush, and actually I don't know anything about him.

Well, we all know Johnny Depp, but this guy? Never heard of him, but still delivers one of the best main character vibes to the franchise. Well done!
