On a positive note.. After 30 years of free willy, (has it been thaaaat long??) Warner Brothers announces the return of the franchise with or on killerwhales..
Auch.. hope that's gonna end well! Certain things did not end well for Keiko unfortunatly. But he did tasted freedom after all that time. But now we know whale rehab is clearly something that is very difficult. Even now, the killerwhales from Marine Land are still swimming in a closed park and there is not a good long term plan in sight for them.. it's just so sad..
Where are all the ney-sayers now?? Maybe we need a big charity show for them, to get them taken to a special care in the ocean, just like a seapen, not to be freed after a few months, but the care they need to feel like a whale again and nog some circus animal.
It's a commercial business in the end, it's all about the money, always and forever.
I hope the new free willy will not be 'freeing' killerwhales again, but a new fresh story, a little bit woke, a little bit.. i don't know exactly.. Some say they better not mess with the original. But i'm curious for the reboot.
Oh well.. I actually wanted to write down about 2 books I have in my property.
(as written on: https://verzameloord.blogspot.com/2018/11/flipper-boeken.html)
So, I have both om them in my possesion, I was actually thinking about giving them away, but after finding out there are just 2 books, I actually want to keep them! (read: there were only 2 published in DUTCH in 1967)
After a quick search on the internet I couldn't find anything more on the author (Jesse Fox) and the illustrator Gerd Werner unfortunatly. Only the fact he's from Hamburg (Germany) and a welknown artist
The drawings are really beautifull! Such details, it's pretty!
So.. would I keep the books as antique? Or not? Next year they will be 60 yeard old! =D
When cruisin' the net I also found these: There were 3 English published books! But the first en second were switched in Dutch!
